The D.C. Front Runners marked another year of community gathering and celebration with their 14th annual 5K Pride Run, held Saturday, June 6 at Congressional Cemetery. The event brought together runners and walkers from across the region for a morning of fitness, camaraderie, and pride in the heart of the nation's capital.

Celebrating Community Through Running

The D.C. Front Runners, part of a national network of LGBTQ+ running clubs, have made the Pride 5K a staple of the local calendar. The choice of Congressional Cemetery as the venue provided a scenic, historic setting for participants to run or walk the 5-kilometer course while connecting with others in the community.

Pride Season in D.C.

The Pride Run comes as the D.C. area has been bustling with LGBTQ+ events and celebrations. Earlier in the month, the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington performed "Soul Divas" at the Lincoln Theatre, featuring songs from icons like Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, and Whitney Houston. The region's pride season also included Project GLOW, an electronic music festival held at the RFK Stadium grounds in late May, which featured an LGBTQ-focused stage.
