Heated Rivalry went from scrappy Canadian indie to global phenomenon almost overnight, and now its creator is asking fans to dial it back. Jacob Tierney posted a statement urging viewers to give the cast and crew space as they begin shooting season 2 in Toronto.
A Sudden Spotlight
Heated Rivalry was made on a modest budget with largely unknown actors who had no reason to expect paparazzi. That changed fast once the show, centered on hockey rivals-turned-secret-lovers Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander, took off. Storrie and Williams have since landed magazine covers and red carpets, and their every move in Toronto, walks, errands, cigarette breaks, has been photographed and circulated online.

In his statement, Tierney thanked fans for their enthusiasm before making a direct ask.

Queer fandoms have earned the right to be loud after years of scraps for representation. But loud enthusiasm and stalking someone's smoke break are not the same thing. Wanting more Heated Rivalry shouldn't mean the people making it lose their privacy to get it done.
