Pulling these up, the stretch comes first. The fabric gives easily over the calf and thigh and settles back without bunching at the knee. The mix is 49% polyester, 44% nylon, and 7% spandex, and that small share of spandex is what keeps the knit recovering after each wear.

The surface has a soft sheen rather than a glossy shine. Polyester keeps the look smooth and even, while nylon adds a slightly slicker glide along the leg. The black is deep and uniform, which makes the stocking read clearly as a faux boot top from the outside.

The top band is elasticized, so the stocking stays in place once it is on. Lace and embroidered decoration sit on the stocking as trim, and the fabric percentages apply to the stocking body without that decoration. Under a short skirt or a mini dress, the top edge can show just enough to draw the eye.
