Build Quality and Adjustability
The pole is heavy-duty stainless steel, made in two tubes that twist together until snug. Length adjusts from 7'3" to 9'3" (up to 111 inches long, about 2 inches wide), so measure your ceiling before you start. Adjustment happens through a spring inside the extendable section. Each clockwise turn lengthens the pole and presses the non-skid rubber stopper harder against the floor, and every turn adds tension. Once it stops turning, it is set. A grey rubber slider sits on the upper tube near the ceiling.
Mounting Hardware and Installation
The pole fits flat ceilings and uses a bolt-in mount. Vaulted, acoustic and false ceilings are not recommended. You will need a ladder, a power drill or screwdriver, and a stud finder. Find a joist, fit the washers onto the screws, and drive them through the mounting plate. Then lift the pole into the coupling plate and twist it clockwise until it locks.
Check that both floor and ceiling are solid first. After setup, confirm the pole is perpendicular to the ceiling and test it for tightness and stability. If you are unsure, a qualified handyman can handle installation.
