Vivian Wilson Walks Off Red Carpet When Reporter Brings Up Elon Musk
Vivian Wilson, the estranged trans daughter of billionaire Elon Musk, left a red carpet interview this week after a reporter made remarks about her father that she found offensive. Wilson, who works as a model, was at an event in Spain celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first Desigual store when the interaction took place.

What Happened on the Red Carpet

Video footage captured the moment Wilson was speaking with media when one reporter asked her, "Your father. The best, no?" Wilson appeared taken aback by the question. When she replied "My what? Sorry?" and the reporter pressed the point by repeating "The best, your father?" Wilson said "Okay" in an annoyed tone and walked away from the interview without further engagement.

A Long History of Family Conflict

Wilson has been vocal for years about her relationship with Musk, describing him as "cold," "very quick to anger," and "uncaring and narcissistic" in a 2024 interview. She has recounted childhood experiences of her father berating her for any signs of gender nonconformity, including having a voice that was too high-pitched. Most notably, Musk has publicly stated that his "son" was "killed by the woke mind virus" and recently claimed that shame over her trans identity is why he began pursuing right-wing politics. Wilson has pushed back on this narrative, telling Teen Vogue last year that the idea her transition drove her father's political shift is "insane."

Moving Forward with Her Own Path

Despite the ongoing conflict, Wilson has made clear she refuses to let her father's views define her. In response to his "woke mind virus" comment, she posted a humorous video of herself lip syncing a famous line from drag queen Morgan McMichaels on RuPaul's Drag Racepaired with a caption directly addressing Musk: "I look pretty good for a dead b**ch. And you don't." She has also channeled her frustration into action. This past March, Wilson launched a merchandise line featuring the phrase "Evil Woke Mind Virus" on t-shirts, caps, and tote bags, with a portion of proceeds donated to the Trevor Project, an organization supporting LGBTQ+ youth in crisis.
